Generic logic analyzer
Tajč, Martin ; Povalač, Karel (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
The aim of the project is to design a generic logic analyzer based on an FPGA. The analyzer should be able to analyze protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485 and GPIO. The captured data can be observed using an embedded graphical display or using a PC. The PC can be used to control the analyzer and to save the captured data. The thesis is divided into several parts. First, the basic structure of the analyzer is described including detailed description of its particular components. Later on, the most common protocols that can be decoded using the analyzer are described. Finally, the FPGA subsystem and microcontroller application are presented together with corresponding source codes.
Universal measuring device for USB interface
Nosek, Petr ; Šilhavý, Pavel (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with design and subsequent implementation of Universal measuring boards, cooperating with the PC via USB, representing the office of the oscilloscope and logic analyzer. It contains a proposal for a hardware measuring boards and the proposal of operating software for microcontroller mounted on the measuring board, as well as for personal computer operating system MS Windows. The work is complete chart measuring the preparation, design printed circuit and the final product photos. We are also diagrams of all development programmes and their source codes.
Logic analyzer module based on PCIe card
Juřík, Tomáš ; Macho, Tomáš (referee) ; Valach, Soběslav (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to implement simple FPGA-based logic analyzer connected to PCI-Express bus. Furthermore four counters are implemented to generate testing dataset. This thesis describes a fundamental priciple and use of logic analyzer. An overview of Spartan-3 PCI Express Starter Kit development board and Xilinx Spartan-3 field-programmable gate array anrchitecture is given. Stages of logic analyzer development are detailed as well.
Logic analyzer for teaching
Dobrocký, Marcel ; Macháň, Ladislav (referee) ; Levek, Vladimír (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with a design of USB logic analyzer that will be used for teaching purposes in laboratory environment. The main purpose of the logic analyzer will be analysis of serial communication protocols most frequently used in embedded systems - UART, SPI and I2C. The analyzer can be also used as a debugging tool while designing all sorts of digital systems. In the first part of this thesis, the theoretical background of above mentioned communication protocols is explained. The next chapter deals with the process of signal analysis with the designed analyzer. It also contains a detailed description of the hardware module design. The last part deals with designing the microcontroller firmware and PC software, while explaining different applications of the analyzer in teaching.
The USB Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer with a Microprocessor
Pešl, Jiří ; Magát, Martin (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
The content of this bachelor thesis is design of electronic measurement and diagnostic device to a computer or any other portable device as are modern mobile phones and PDAs. Designed system will be measure analog periodical signals in time in currently used ranges and discrete logic signals. Signals will be restored and displayed on the screen of any other device. Wherewith designed device will be communicate through USB 2.0 or Bluetooth interface.
Universal ethernet module
Řeháček, Tomáš ; Valach, Soběslav (referee) ; Burian, František (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with creating a universal module with Ethernet interface and its using for digital values measurement. The main module components are gate array FPGA, microprocessor, PHY chip and RJ45 connector. Printed circuit board is in this thesis designed in Eagle. The chase for board is drawn in SketchUp and printed on a 3D printer. There is a code implemented in created universal module that is performing the function of logic analyzer. Data measured by the analyzer are sent to the Ethernet using UDP/IPv4 protocol. The last part is creating an application in C# to display the measured waveforms on a PC.
Logic analyzer implementation into the FPGA
Kořínek, Milan ; Valach, Soběslav (referee) ; Gogol, František (advisor)
The thesis deals with the implementation of a simple logic analyzer built on the Spartan-3E Starter Kit development kit. A measuring electronics board with sixteen measuring channels and five outputs was developed. Outputs can be used as square wave generators. Inputs and outputs are protected by overvoltage protection circuitry. The application is run on a MicroBlaze software processor. The LCD touchscreen displays an easy graphical interface which can be conveniently controlled through the touch panel.
